Glass storage, answered
Are the lids plastic too?
No. The lids are borosilicate glass, just like the base. The only other material is the sealing ring, made from platinum-cured silicone. There's no plastic in the container or in the packaging it ships in.
Can they go in the oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher?
Yes, all four. Borosilicate glass handles temperature changes far better than ordinary glass, so you can prep, freeze, reheat and wash in the same container. Let a frozen container rest a few minutes before it goes into a hot oven.
What is platinum silicone?
Silicone cured with a platinum catalyst instead of peroxide, so no peroxide byproducts are left in the finished material. It's the grade used in medical and baby products, and it stays flexible and odor-free for years.
Which size should I start with?
The 21 oz is the most versatile: a chicken breast with a side, a big salad or two cups of leftovers. If you batch-cook for the week, add the 35 oz and 50 oz. The multisize set gives you one of each to try.
How does the vacuum pump work?
Place it on the valve of a compatible Ziruma glass lid and press once. It pulls the air out and stops on its own when the seal is set. Less air means food stays fresh longer and frozen meals come out without freezer burn.
Are the mixing bowls plastic-free?
Yes. The bowls are 304 (18/8) stainless steel with tempered glass and platinum silicone lids, so you can mix, cover and store in the same bowl.
